Cpl. Dunham was born on November 10, 1981.
Coincidently the same day as the Marine Corps Birthday.
He was born and raised in Scio, New York.
On April 14, 2004 Dunham and his squad intercepted multiple cars near the area were his battalion commander’s convoy came under attack. Dunham’s squad was searching for weapons used in the attack, when Dunham discovered an AK-47, a man began attacking the Marines in order to flee. Dunham used Hand to Hand Combat tactics to subdue the man. During this the man dropped a hand grenade. immediately Dunham took off his helmet and put in on the grenade and laid on the helmet to absorb the blast, in doing this he saved the lives of 2 fellow Marines, He was sent to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He died 8 days later.

In Cape Breton, where I come from, and also in places like Ireland, and Scotland, ALOT goes on in that little kitchen beside makin’ dinner (which, by the way, is served at lunchtime). Friends and family members gather in these little kitchen, sometimes with their instruments as well, sometimes dancin on the kitchen floor, and usually ‘havin’ a cup of tea’! Yes, alot of music is played and sung in that little kitchen, and our Christmas in the Kitchen is no different! Our ‘actual’ kitchen table from our kitchen, gets loaded up and carried off to adorn the Sheldon stage. I bring along the cape breton tea, and cookies, and away we go!
Audience members are encouraged to come up throughout the performance, and sit for a spell, and taste the delicious cape breton tea, have a cookie, and tap your toe for a song or two, and then let someone else sit for a spell. This show is VERY kid friendly, and we encourage you to bring yours, or your grandchildren, or neighbors. We always have a special guest or two, with one of our honored guests being Santa Claus himself!
We will have a visit from our ‘Scottish Santa’, (I’ll bet you never knew Santa played the bagpipes) who comes ‘to pick up’ the toys to be delivered to underpriveleged children on Christmas morning. You will see the ‘tower of food’ in the lobby, so leave your canned goods there. This is a super-fun event and is sure to put you and yours right in the Christmas spirit!!
