Posted in politics on January 31, 2011 by spikestl

Sorry Folks ~

Due to bad weather, we will need to reschedule tonight’s Article V-Repeal Amendment Debate…..

The debate for tonight has been cancelled. We are looking to reschedule ASAP!!!

So please, stay tuned!!!……

Please join us for a debate on the merits and dangers of an Article V Constitutional convention to amend the US Constitution.
Many states including Missouri are or have introduced legislation requesting an article V convention to consider the Repeal Amendment.
This is a very important debate.
We the people need to be informed and understand the pros and cons of such an action.
If this happens it will be the first convention convened since since the passage of the US Constitution.

Kid’s say the darndest things

Posted in Cool Beans on January 28, 2011 by spikestl

The story below has been stolen directly from my wife’s facebook page… Last names have been removed to protect the innocent. Austin is a 6 year old first grader and can be seen in this video; 6-year-old-patriot-at-hwy-kn

Noreen;
Walking home from school with Austin, I asked him what they did that day and he said, we had to the tell the teacher what we would be doing when we are 100, I said oh yeah I am going to be 100 soon, it’s going to be my birthday soon. He says you can’t be 99, you don’t look that old 🙂 We get a bit further down the road and he says how old will you be?

Linda;
well what did you tell him?

Noreen;
I said” how old Do I look?” and he said only 70, wahhhh, booo hoooo :**( LMAO)

Linda;
OMG … but you know you were thinking…I hope I look this good at 70!

Noreen;
He was so serious, and when I looked upset he says don’t fuss it’s better than being 99, then you can’t walk, lol

Linda;
The things that come out of my grandchildren’s mouth makes me smile all the time…

Noreen;
Kids say the darndest things 🙂 I miss that show they used to have, wish they would bring it back, better than some of the crap they have on nowadays.

Jennifer;
That is too funny! Im going to ask him how old he thinks I am LOL

Noreen;
No, please don’t Jen, I still want you to like us ;O)

Jennifer;
LOL!

Nancy;
LOL!! only Austin would say 70. You don’t look a day over 40.

Martha;
Mr. Austin is so precious.

Laurie;
I miss hearing these Austin-isms! You must share MORE!

Noreen;
I don’t know if I would call him precious right now Martha, he is being a stinker 🙂
Laurie, I miss you too 🙂 Oh and BTW he asked me a few weeks ago if there was a baby in my tummy, so now I am 70 and pregnant, and when I told him nope, no …baby,
he said it’s OK, you must be just fat like Daddy, HAHA!!

AKIN ALERT: What is the State of the Union?

Dear Spike,

In last night’s State of the Union address, President Obama recognized the need to spur job creation, strengthen the economy and reduce the size of government.

We agreed about some of the problems our country confronts.

Yet our solutions remain vastly different.

While the Republicans have called for immediately rolling back discretionary spending to pre-stimulus levels, the President called for freezing it at current levels – which means 84% more spending.

While Republicans have called for safely and responsibly exploring all domestic energy solutions, the President has shut down domestic energy exploration and called for new spending on “clean energy.”

While Republicans have introduced the REINS Act to require Congressional approval of any new regulation that would have a major impact on jobs, the President has called for a bureaucratic process where federal agencies review their own regulations and decide which ones, if any, should be changed or eliminated.

While Republicans are taking seriously our responsibility to address the unsustainable burden of entitlement programs, the President made it clear last night that any serious entitlement reform efforts were off the table.

Missouri is the “Show Me” state. We know real solutions are needed for 9% unemployment, red tape that strangles job creation, a $14 trillion national debt, and entitlement spending that eats up every penny of federal revenue (see chart).

There were many areas of agreement between Republicans and Democrats in the House chamber last night. With Republicans controlling the House and Democrats controlling the Senate and the Executive branch, the only way we are going to make progress on the urgent issues facing us is by working together to find real solutions for the serious challenges our country faces.
Sincerely,

W. Todd Akin

Mandatory spending (Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid) comprises over 45 percent of federal spending. By 2052, without reform, these programs will consume all federal revenues. Even more alarming, as you read this, the national debt continues to grow at an exponential rate.

CONSTITUENT CORNER

January is Sanctity of Human Life month. Regardless of age, health, or condition of dependency, every human being is valuable – worth our care and protection. So, whether you are young or old, strong or weak, high performing or differently abled, I will not cease to work to see that every light in this country is able to shine. I pray that you will join me in cherishing the precious lives around you.
